Our family includes several pets; a playful, child-friendly dog, two old cats, and a rabbit. The rabbit is in a hutch outside, and the cats stay upstairs mostly. But our dog (a 60 lb. Australian Shepherd/Queensland Heeler mix) does have access to most of the house and yard. She is a sweet dog but very protective. She doesn't bite but WILL bark at anyone who approaches/enters the house. If you aren't a dog person, you can knock when you arrive and I can put her in a room. Otherwise, you can just come right in and give her some instant attention to curb her bark. :)
I try to keep my house clean of pet hair, but if your child has strong allergies to pet dander, this may not be the best choice for your childcare setting.
If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, please let me know. I will work with him/her on covering their mouth, blowing their nose and washing their hands. If he/she requires daily medicine, please administer before arriving.
